It’s been two years that SMA St. Maria 1 build a relationship with AIESEC in the form of accepting and allowing its members, that are from various countries, to go into the classes and communicate with the students, especially the 12th graders. In their visits, they introduced the organization and delivered some presentation about their culture or global issues with the main purpose of promoting cross cultural understanding and youth leadeship. What kind of organization the AIESEC is? Here is some information about it.
AIESEC (pronounced eye-sek) was originally an acronym of Association Internationale des Étudians en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales. AIESEC wac established in 1948 after WW II, where seven youth from seven countries has a dream of building cross cultural understanding across nations. Today, AIESEC is no longer used as an acronym but simply as the name of the organization.
Aiesec is a non-governmental for not-for-profit organization in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), affiliated with the UN DPI, and is recognized by the UNESCO. It is also non-political and independent. This organization becomes a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential which is run by students and recent graduates of institutions or higher education. Its member are interested in world issues, leadership, and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or national/social origin. In this organisation, it is believed that youth leadership is not an option but a responsibility. It is expected that this relationship will develop into a better partnership to enhance the teaching learning quality for the school’s main goal as the center of excellence.
